Contestant 5 is Angel Correa. (In the picture with Angel is a Heerman’s kangaroo rat.)
Angel reports that for the last two weeks, the Bakersfield office staff has been live trapping and relocating small mammals away from areas of concern for a Department of Energy remediation project within the Elk Hills Oil Field. As it is still within an active oil field, the appropriate gear for the job is: fire resistant clothing, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) monitor, hard hat, high-vis vest, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots (not visible in photo below). Nitrile gloves are worn as a precaution to prevent cross contamination between species, as well as preventing contact with rodent feces and urine.
